Before submission, please read and adhere to the JASA Author Guidelines

  • If your article meets the requirements set by the Author Guidelines and a first review by the editor in chief, it will be reviewed by at least two peer reviewers with expertise in this or a related topic. This peer review will result in:
    • acceptance as is
    • acceptance upon satisfactory completion of major revisions based on reviewers’ comments
    • outright rejection
    • acceptance with minor changes
  • Rejected articles may be resubmitted for consideration after corrections are made in response to feedback by peer reviewers.
  • Author(s) retain their intellectual property rights governing future use of published materials after one year. If the article is reprinted, "permission granted by JASA, etc." must be inserted after the byline. JASA retains the right to publish the author’s article in the printed version of the journal and online.
  • PDAs awarded by NCCAOM® A maximum of 20 points (10 per article, max 2 articles per recertification cycle) may be submitted for authoring an article in JASA. Please see NCCAOM Handbook p. 26 Each author must submit to NCCAOM® to receive PDAs.
  • Each author of a published article, interview, or book review will receive two print copies of that issue.
  • Deadlines for submission: Articles are welcome on an ongoing basis—but by or before:
    • December 15 for spring issue
    • March 15 for summer issue
    • June 15 for fall issue
    • September 15 for winter issue

Your submission will be immediately acknowledged. The review process may take up to 60-90 days. Author(s) will be notified of publication date, which may take up to one year.
