Jennifer A. M. Stone, MSOM, LAc has practiced acupuncture and Chinese medicine for over 30 years and participated in acupuncture research for 15 years. She is assistant research faculty for the Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesia and Department of Pediatric Oncology. She has participated in NIH funded research on both animal and human subjects. She serves as Editor In Chief of The Journal of The American Society of Acupuncturists and is the owner of East West Acupuncture in Bloomington, IN.
Her research interests include acupuncture as an adjunct in the cancer setting for the palliation of symptoms associated with cancer treatments. She has published three papers and a book chapter on the use of acupuncture in the oncology setting and possible mechanisms behind the effects. Specifically she is interested in peripheral nerve pain and has conducted research on acupuncture for the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia, publishing two papers on the findings. Her team at IUSM is currently working on a proposed research study to investigate the immunomodulatory mechanisms including mesenchymal stem cells on the effects of acupuncture in patients with post herpetic neuralgia.
Elizabeth Sommers, PhD, MPH, LAc is Senior Acupuncturist and Researcher in the Integrative Medicine and Health Disparities Program of Boston Medical Center. Dr. Sommers holds degrees from Boston University School of Public Health and New England School of Acupuncture. She coordinates an acupuncture clinic at Tufts Medical Center that provides free care for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Sommers is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine and authored Public Health And Health Services Research In Traditional, Complementary And Integrative Health Care: International Perspectives (2019). She also currently serves on APHA’s Governing Council.
Lynn Eder, MFA was copy editor for The American Acupuncturist, published by the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, beginning in 2007. She also managed the journal from 2011-2013. In 2014 she and Jennifer Stone, LAc launched the peer reviewed quarterly journal Meridians: The Journal of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, which continues today as the Journal of the American Society for Acupuncturists. Lynn copy edits a variety of written pieces, including website content, blogs, fiction, and non-fiction as well as technical books for the acupuncture and East Asian medical profession.
Tracy Soltesz, DAc, LAc, Ac (NCCAOM) received her DAc in 2016 from Tai Sophia Institute, now Maryland University of Integrative Medicine, where she continues as adjunct faculty. In addition to 14 years of clinical practice and director at Kunlun Mountain Acupuncture, Tracy has served as president of the Maryland Acupuncture Society and chair of the American Society of Acupuncturists.
